Accessibility
The websites we design are always put together with accessibility at the core of our design process. We really believe in accessibility, it allows users to access a website's content regardless of any visual disability or access method. Web standards are core to our understanding of accessibility, but we also understand the balance to be struck between making every website we build an experiment in accessibility and providing a solid solution to our clients.
As well as winning awards for accessible design, Fluid Creativity have been at the forefront in developing newer technologies in the field of web accessibility. We've worked closely in conjunction with accessibility advocate Dr David Kreps of Salford University in identifying key points of improvement in current screen reader applications. The research conducted by the development team at Fluid Creativity was used to enhance the software of several market leading screen readers (e.g. Jaws, Dolphin), and improve the overall delivery of a web experience to the blind and visually impaired.
Whilst accessibility underpins the work Fluid Creativity do, this is not done at the sacrifice of clean, contemporary and arresting design. Bleeding edge web technologies and content delivery options such as online video and scripted animation can be used to convey the sites message to the visitor and create a rich user experience. Where elements like this are used, Fluid Creativity ensure that alternate content is automatically inserted on the site when certain users do not have the relevant plug-ins needed. We also provide a user with the option to download the required software via the site to take advantage of the extra level of media.
Our interest in accessibility extends past the purely academic, it's a design philosophy at the core of what we do.
Usability Testing
It's vital your site has a clear and usable interface, it's an essential part of running a successful online business. There is little point promoting your website with SEO and PPC if your website fails to deliver in user experience. Even with the most fantastic design, a website with poor usability will cost you in terms of customer acquisition and retention. Here at Fluid we offer basic website usability advice in advance of our SEO or PPC campaigns. That’s because we believe in more than just sending traffic to your site, we want to turn those visitors into customers. We also offer advanced usability reports that go into finite detail over how your website could be improved. We could recommend subtle differences such as the font size or style, or a change to the colour scheme which may seem insignificant, but done in conjunction with other changes, could significantly improve your bounce rate and help to convert traffic into customers.
