- Fluid Creativity win at Fresh Digital Awards - Manchester based digital agency Fluid Creativity have scooped the prestigious fresh digital Business to Business award at a ceremony held at the Hilton this week. The company was recognised for the innovative design and construction of the routes online website.
Project Brief & Approach
Routes Online is the world’s first interactive route development service, bringing airports and airlines together. Fluid Creativity originally built the site to act solely as supporting media to the annual World Route Development Forum, however the site has now grown into an entire integrated social business networking platform. The new Routesonline.com website provides airports and airlines with the ability to promote their market opportunities and actively work on their route development programme 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
For airports, their routes can be marketed online using a wealth of tools available on the Routes Online website. They can set up a marketing profile to take advantage of the full range of media which the Internet can support, including text, images, motion graphics, downloadable documents, data and route maps. Uniquely, airports can also utilise video, for the world's airlines to view and interact with. Critically these profiles are manageable ensuring that market facts and figures, which are constantly changing, are always up to date. The data is displayed as a profile view to the visitor using clean design elements and live graph data, and integrates seamlessly with Google Maps plotting airports' individual airline routes.
For airlines, Routes Online has become a central source of market data and information allowing them to consider the route development aspirations of airports at a time and place to suit their agenda. Social elements are integral to the website, utilizing an inbuilt private messaging and contact management system which allows employees of both airports and airlines to communicate with each other.
Video plays an important role within the scheme of the website, so Fluid Creativity designed and developed its own video encoding and streaming solution to cater for the specific requirements set by the client. Videos uploaded by users are automatically encoded to the correct format suitable for delivery around the website. This allows up-to-the-minute delivery of video content from the key events in the route development calendar.
A website as extensive as Routes Online requires an easy to use admin suite fully capable of running a site housing such vast content. Fluid Creativity has developed this so that the site administrators can oversee and manage every element of the structure and content.
Since the re-launch in May 2008, the website has had over 1.5 million page views. The platform continues to evolve with the imminent integration of external event sites, and planned future development work already in the pipeline.
