Turning Heads With Your Exhibition Stand

You're about to attend a large business event/show, where you will be representing your business in a booth that will be seen by thousands of people. Aside from the standard nervousness and obvious excitement, you are probably running the scenario through your mind hundreds of times. Every little detail, from the clothes that you will wear to the color of the material that you will use at your stand, will have an impact on the impression that you will make.

A good exhibition stand design will attract the attention of other attendees and that chances are good that the people that are going to be attending the convention are already somewhat qualified as buyers of your product or service. Attracting their attention to your business means that more attention is focused on what you are offering, and that translates into sales and increased revenue.

Become an Attention Grabber

The style and design of your exhibition stand will be the element which will garner the most attention. People passing by that are drawn to your booth out of curiosity become targeted as they develop an interest in your product.

Here are a few tried and tested methods to grab attention with your stand design:

  • Unique design – Having a booth design that is dramatically different than what the visitors will be expecting is likely to grab attention as people clamor to see what you are promoting. Designs that are ‘off the wall’ work well, as do ultra-modern layouts.
  • Flashy Gimmicks – It's sad but it's true: people respond to flashy, useless gimmicks. If you have a booth about car parts, having a walking tire as a mascot will be sure to draw in an audience. But don’t just stick to obvious gimmicky ideas, afterall, once you’ve seen one mascot, you’ve pretty much seen them all! Try to think outside the box like marketing guru Seth Godin. At his exhibition stand he gave away free, brightly coloured t-shirts and promised the recipient that if they were wearing that t-shirt later in the day they would be entered into a prize draw. Come mid afternoon, most of the event attendees had heard about this promotion and where all wearing his company’s t-shirt. Needless to say this was quite a talking point in offices across America the following week.
  • Hype, hype, hype! - Inflate your business through press releases, publicity stunts, and media attention. Get a crowd to your booth, as people gravitate towards them. Give away prizes, candy, refreshments, or anything else that fits within the confines set by the hosts.
  • Merchandise Displays – Show off the goods! Let people see what you're offering. If you have something interesting enough, people will take notice.
