Back to Fluid Thinking
Introducing: Cat Leaver
There’s been a lot of exciting changes here at Fluid HQ since we were acquired by digital agency We Are AD. This has included meeting plenty of friendly new faces as the Manchester and Glasgow teams have joined forces, and we’d like to introduce you to some of the guys at We Are AD who’ll be lending their expertise to the new and improved Fluid Creativity.
As a key member of the now expanded digital marketing team across Fluid and AD we asked Cat Leaver, Group Head of Strategy, to tell us a little about herself…
Tell us more about your role and the work you do
I work across the group heading up the strategy, digital marketing and internal marketing teams. I work closely with the Board to establish the companies’ positioning and strategies, as well as working with client teams to deliver lasting results.
Our aim is to bake in value and measurability from the offset, to help our clients leverage digital to greatest effect (and ROI) and to build lasting relationships. In my four years with AD I’ve worked on projects of all types with clients including Science Museum of London, EDF Energy Group, Diet Chef, DC Thomson and Grass Roots Group.
What’s your biggest career achievement to date?
Being one of only 9 accepted onto a competitive leadership training programme run by TRC Media, Channel 4 and the Scottish Government that gave a select group of industry professionals access to international thought leaders and practitioners.
The year-long initiative culminated in a business fact-finding trip to San Francisco where we had meetings with senior personnel at Facebook, Skype, Microsoft, Wired, Google, Fantasy Interactive and many other absolutely incredible organisations.
What’s the best part of your job?
Working with a hugely diverse and intellectual bunch of people. I love that we all challenge each other (positively) every day with new ideas and inspiration – there’s definitely never a dull moment.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Wherever possible I grab the opportunity to travel and explore new places (home or abroad). Having lived in Barcelona for a year and with a Brazilian sister-in-law I’m lucky to have lots of people I can visit across the globe.
When at home, I’m a pretty social creature so I enjoy cooking for friends or sampling some great grub out and about, and I’m not averse to a glass of wine and a chinwag. My alter egos – I also head up communications at TEDxGlasgow and work with the leadership team to run the organisation and annual conference, as well as teaching piano (having formerly reached grade 8 level many moons ago).
What are you most excited to bring to Fluid Creativity?
A combination of my passion/energy and experience from AD. The Fluid team are fantastic and we’ve already made great strides together (through new processes, systems and structures).
I’m really looking forward to seeing the team flourish more and creating a fantastic company culture for everyone involved.
