Brief

Platinum Photographic required a corporate website to promote their services to both new and existing customers. The website was to display as many images as could be supplied and the design must reflect the image and style of Platinum Photographic while letting their photographs have the most impact possible.

Combined with the website design was to be a brand new corporate identity developed by Fluid that would present Platinum Photographic as two of Manchester's leading photographers.

Approach

We began by developing the company logo; by distilling the core essentials of Platinum Photographic into an effective logo we had an excellent starting point for designing the web presence.

The logo suggests Platinum Photographic's position as one of the most stylish and modern photographic firms in the UK while retaining the timeless qualities that make photographs such an important part of the major events in our lives.

With the identity developed the site could be designed, the style focus would be clean, fresh and contemporary while the core functionality was to display Platinum's images in the best possible manner.

The approach we have taken is to make the images central to the site, providing the impact that text never could have.

We used Flash to provide the technology allowing quick loading images and the navigation that appears over the top of the images. This is fully integrated with xml to allow easy update to all the images on the site.

While every effort was made to make the Flash site fully accessible we implemented a html based alternative to ensure that everybody can enjoy this site.

My call to Fluid just to get a quote after I had pretty much made my mind up on a company to design our site totally changed my mind.
